Branding, Signage & Print
In 2014 I was commissioned to develop a brand for Skylark, a newly renovated park café on Wandsworth Common, London. I designed a new logo and helped with the art direction for the café interior which included creating a 3D bird installation on the wall of the main dining room. I also designed the menus, marketing materials and website. As a local family owned café, their dream was to create a place where everyone could enjoy good, imaginatively prepared food and drink with friends and loved ones, making visits to beautiful natural, local spaces even more special.
In 2016 the owners opened their second park café, near the Rookery Garden on Streatham Common. Again I was asked to design a new logo for The Rookery Café which was to have its own branding based on its unique name and location. After a year of trading, and with an ambitious vision to grow the family of park cafés, it was decided that we needed to bring Skylark in line with The Rookery Café branding as we felt this look was a much better fit for the brand and could easily be adapted to include new café names. So Skylark underwent a rebrand and refurbishment, yet because it was the first café it still retains some of it's individuality by being the only one that has crested Skylark birds and a slightly different wreath.
In the years that followed, 5 new cafés have been added to the Roots and Berries family and the brand is now synonymous with excellent seasonal food, inclusive and welcoming spaces, friendly staff and the promise of an enjoyable break from city life while enjoying a bite to eat or a refreshment with friends, family or just your dog!
