The Return of the Train
Event Design and Print
Virgin Trains launched a fabulous new Ad Campaign called 'The Return of the Train' which was intended to revive the romance and excitement associated with train travel in early Hollywood movies. Clever use of special effects placed the characters from movies such as 'Some Like it Hot' inside the new modern trains streaking through the English countryside with characters from scenes in 'The Railway Children' running down to see the Virgin train whizz by instead of a steam locomotive.
To promote the new high speed service and to support the nationwide campaign three parties were held in 3 upmarket venues in Manchester, Birmingham and London. Members of the press, corporate VIP's and celebrities were invited to celebrate the launch with Virgin Trains.
As Exposure's the design partner it was my task to use the Virgin campaign identity and apply this to typographic statements on large scale canvas posters using frames taken from the on-air advert which needed to be colour treated and merged into a range of collages. Other event decor and printed material included backlit bar counter panels, posters, signage, menus, t-shirts and promo items for the goody bags.
